| The maQmIgh (or “Dark Omen”) was invented by its present owner: [[Lanista|tlha’nISta’]], daughter of QolloH. It was built for the final battle with Admiral Qurta.

| The confrontation between tlha’nISta’ and Qurta was to be planet-side. The maQmIgh was developed to circumvent Qurta’s planetary defenses and to transport tlha’nISta’ to Qurta’s lair. (Atmospheric conditions would have prevented transporter beaming.)

| While the actual combat was hand-to-hand, the maQmIgh would have been more than capable of killing the Admiral. tlha’nISta’ had allowed Vulcan logic to dictate most of her strategy during the 5-year-long House Feud. However, in the final analysis, Klingon honor demanded a face-to-face battle.
