The [[Balancer Machine]] was a reputed artifact left over from the ancient [[Iconian]] Empire and reputed to exist somewhere on the [[planet]] [[Xega III]].
Coming Soon.

The device was said to be designed to absorb and neutralize harmful radiation in the planet's atmosphere, caused by the slow death of their parent sun. It seemed that the device was either unfinished or that the Iconians were unable to activate it prior to their destruction.

In 2408, The [[USS Rosenante]] was sent to [[Xega III]] to repupply the archeological outpost there, run by the famous expert on Iconian history, Doctor [[Otto Totenkampf]].

During their visit Doctor Totenkampf located an ancient underground facility which housed the fabled device and inadvertently activated it. The result was immediate. The device rose up through the planet's crustal layers and began to charge up. It began to absorb and redirect the deadly radiation that remained in the planet's atmosphere. The device was measured at 10-kilometers in diameter.

The Rosenante barely managed to evacuate the resupply team and the archeological teams from the surface. The device then discharged a beam into the sun which miraculously rekindled and revitalized it.

The planet is slowly transforming into a [[Class M]] world once again and Doctor Totenkampf's work is on-going.
