Kimda III

Kimda III is an inhabited planet located in the Beta Quadrant roughly 60 Light Years from Andoria. It is situated between the claimed space of the Romulan Star Empire and the Orion Syndicate.

In 2401, the Orion Syndicate, initiated invasion plans against the planet, in order to secure the planet's rich latinum deposits.

Because of the difficulties associated with the world's location and supplying forces to protect the planet, the United Federation of Planets rejected requests by the Kimdan government to aid them in throwing off the invading Orion forces.

This declaration of non-interferrence, however, did not prevent some Starfleet officers from resigning their commissions and joining the Kimdan military. Among them was Baylon Trinin.

In addition to disenfranchised Starfleet officers, the Romulans also sent military advisors.

Despite this, there simply was not enough manpower and equipment to prevent a complete occupation of the planet by Orion forces. By late 2402, the majority of the Kimdan military forces had been neutralized, captured or destroyed. The Orions assumed governing positions within the kimdan government.

This was not the end of the conflict however. Several thousand ex-Starfleet officers, Romulan advisors and volunteers began to organize into resistance cells. These cells were covertly supported by the Romulan Tal Shiar, and began to conduct partisan operations against the occupation forces.

The resulting damage was so great that within less than a year, the Orion Syndicate was unable to continue to control and govern the planet. They withdrew in very early 2403.

Because of the aid that was rendered by the Romulans, Kimda III has become an ally of that government. A brisk trade between Kimda and Romulus has developed.

Because of her natural riches and resources, the planet had completely recovered from the scars and destruction of the invasion by 2406.
