After the end of the Federation Civil War members of Starfleet find themselves the lucky survivors of the deadly conflict and most wonder where their next duty station may be.
The prior crew of the USS Champlain one of the ships of the 52nd Fleet destroyed during the attack on Doenitz forces in the Sol System are among those unfortunate enough to be awaiting reassignment.
That reassignment comes in the form of the USS Rosenante.
This experimental class of starship was originally built and designed by the Doenitz regime to fulfill the role of privateer against the ships of the 52nd fleet. It is equipped with dozens of state-of-the-art systems and technologies, including a new stealth system and a Spiral geometry drive.
Finding the need for the vessel to be moot, but also facing a distinct shortage of serviceable vessels, Starfleet command orders her refitted to perform the role of Explorer rather than that of Privateer. Despite the refit, however, most of her offensive capabilities and specialized technology remains intact.
The crew of the Rosenante arrive at Starbase Geneva where they encounter the vessel for the first time. They begin training and learning to work together on a ship fraught with small technical problems and idiosyncrasies. This is the first mission posted on the USS Rosenante after her launch.
