Sunali II
Sunali II is a remote Federation planet. The Planet is Class L and located near the Cardassian Border. The planet was once the home of a sizable Human colony that was occupied by the Maquis, however the Cardassians employed Trilithium Resin to make the planet uninhabitable by Humans in 2389.
This caused the complete evacuation of the planet.
During the Federation Civil War a facility was created here, by a secret faction of the Starfleet Engineers named Omega Station. The Station was employed in the creation and development of a viable and stable creation of the Omega Molecule.
This facility continued to function even after the civil war ended with the defeat of President Rodrigo Doenitz. It was believed that there was an underground faction that had been loyal to the militaristic views of the Doenitz regime and that the project would be used to re-establish that regimes power base.
The facility was located and destroyed in 2408 by the ISS Rosenante and which was aware of the existence of the facility in their own universe. They attacked the facility and stole the deployment device that had been built there.
In the Mirror Universe
Sunali II in the mirror universe was a much different world that it was in the normal universe. It was a thriving military out post which had at one time been used as a weapons manufacturing facility. In the mirror universe the planet was a thriving colony which also housed a subterranean science facility dedicated to the creation of the Omega Molecule. In this univberse the planet was successful in early 2408 just a few weeks before the Cardassian - Klingon Alliance captured the system.
The Imperial Union of Planets dispatched a ship the ISS Rosenante which managed to rescue the project's scientists including Zachary Falthgood who were responsible for the development of the stable Omega Molecule.
The Rosenante returned to Sunali II several weeks later at the behest of Regent Rodrigo Doenitz after the planet capitulated completely with the Klingon-Cardassian Alliance. knowing it would only be a matter of time before the KCA agents would discover the facility and thus the means to create stable Omega Molecules which could be turned into a weapon, the ISS Rosenante was ordered to destroy the system while simultaneously testing the new Omega Device on the planets sun.
This had the added tactical benefit, as the alliance had been using the system as a staging point for a massive task force in preparation for the an upcoming counter attack against the IUP.
The ISS Rosenante delivered the omega Device as ordered destroying the assembling task force and destroying the planet Sunali II. The attack also flung the ISS Rosenante through a dimensional rift into our universe.
