The Trivaste are a mysterious species whose origins are not from this universe. The species is insect-like in appearance, and is known to undertake a generations long pilgrimage across the galaxy in a massive generational ship known as a World Ship. This pilgrimage ends with the ship reaching the mysterious planet Iradon which is affected by an Interdimensional Rift that recurrs every 1000 years. Interestingly enough, the Trivaste pilgrimage takes the same length of time, and upon arrival, both the Trivaste World Ship and the planet Iradon return to another dimension. It is believed that the appearance of Iradon is a result of a quantum instability and hat when the trivaste ship, which has a similar quantum signature as Iradon, is introduced into the equation that Iradon is returned from whence it came.

In 2407, a Trivaste world ship was attacked by a Cardassian Galor Class ship in an attempt to draw in the USS Kitty Hawk then manned by crew members from the USS Boudicca involved in a rescue mission to locate and rescue Lieutenant Colonel Eva Straton. The ploy was a success, although the Kitty Hawk drove off the attacking starship

AOPs Tollian Yalix and Counselor Oggie Marsh led a first contact mission aboard the Trivaste Worldship where they aided the species in repairing the damage to the vessle's drives and other critical systems.

Later the Kitty Hawk escorted the Trivaste Worldship to Iradon although at the time that they did so they did not know that it would be responsible for the planet leaving this universe. Members of the crew's away team barely escaped before the planet reverted back to it's original plane of existence.
