=The Quezal Situation=

Vice-Admiral Thinn has been particularly preoccupied with the situation of [[Quezal]]. The L-class planet is the homeworld of the [[Quezalth]] people, and is the only known source of the mineral [[Aeghon]], which is a very prized mineral because of its photonic property which can improve energy weapon efficiency by a significant percentage. After years of talks and economic trade between them and the Federation, the Quezalth had accepted to undergone to process to become a member of the [[United Federation of Planets]]. However, midway through the process, Supposed to join the Federation, the [[Quezalth]] had surprisingly decided to rather join economically the [[Romulan Star Empire]] therefore allowing the very precious [[Aeghon]] to fall in the hands of a potential adversary. With a group of scientists, he theorized Aeghon was one of the mineral critical to produce Thalaron Radiation. He was the first to alarm Starfleet Command of the potential risk the Romulan Empire could be trying to rebuild Scimitar-class ships. However, his concerns were premature as the planet [[Quezal]] suffered from a mysterious antimatter explosion which, reacting with the Aeghon in the planet crust, caused a chain reaction that killed millions of Quezalth and the Aeghon on the planet.
