From a long line of Starfleet officers, Vincent has a strong since of loyalty toward his commanding officers. He is especially loyal toward his mentor Admiral Stevenson. Vincent joined his mentor when he decided to side with [[Admiral Doenitz]] when he assumed emergency power in order to protect the values of Starfleet. He doesn't understand why his own son has abandoned his post. He was forced to report his former wife to the authorities when she wouldn't reveal Chris's location.
