Largely beginning with the marriage of [[Kingsley Bracken]] to Leola duBois, the Bracken Family has a long history of devoted service in StarFleet.</br>

One afternoon, based on nothing more than a dare from one of her friends, she signed up to the StarFleet Marine Corps, there discovering a world, that she could truly be herself in, and once adjusted and flourishing in the rigid discipline rose very rapidly through the ranks.
She met [[Kingsley Bracken]] whilst on board the USS Farragut, he was then a young Engineering [[Crewman]] and the pair soon started dating seriously. As both of their enlisted careers began to flourish, so did their love, and they were married soon after. After they were promoted to the rank of [[Master Sergeant]] [[Leola Bracken]] and [[Senior Chief Petty Officer]] Kingsley Bracken; they announced her pregnancy with their daughter [[Dale Bracken]].

After a standard Maternity Leave, [[Leola Bracken]] returned to Active service, and gained promotion to [[Sergeant Major]] where she gained the attention of Fleet Intel. When [[Dale Bracken]] was only seven years old, [[Leola Bracken]] staged her death, and took up a position with Intel as part of a deep undercover BlackOps cell. The young Dale loved life aboard the Fleet ship that she called home, until tragedy struck one morning. Whilst en-route to Sickbay for an emergency appendectomy, a hull breach struck the ship, apparently killing her mother instantly. After a succesful recovery to the operation, which left a scar, her father [[Kingsley Bracken]] eventually resigned from the Fleet, finding no love for it without his wife. Instead, he took over the running of the family vineyard, in Tuscanny, Earth, following the death of a distant relative.</br>

Over the following months Dale gained higher position and promotion, eventually becoming [[Second Officer]] and being awarded the [[Legion of Honour]] before injury at the hads of Fleet Intelligence forced her to take medical leave, where she completed a phD in Astrophysics, and started a family, giving birth to her daughter [[Aimee Bracken]].

Born in 2411, Aimee spent a short time on board the Hades with her mother, who eventually took the difficult decision to send the young Aimee, then nearly 5, home to live with her gran, Leola. Tragedy struck in 2420 when, during a trip, a massive spacial anomaly propelled Aimee, then 9 back in time to 2396 and wiping her memory.
She was found by a small space-fairing band of pirates who looked after the child, naming her Carena Ptaquiloside, until the colony was raided by Fleet Special Forces.

Carena was then put into foster care. Being by nature a wild natured teenager, eventually Carena settled and discovered a love for medicine after her foster parents took her to a local museum. Discovering in herself a keen intelligence and an aptitude for science, she was accepted into the Denobulan School of Medicine, graduating in the top 1%. She then applied to Starfleet Academy, and upon graduation stayed with SFMHQ to do a years surgical residency.

This last she only survived due to the presence of Eva Straton, then Captain of the Hades. During this moment, she came to recall all her lost memory, realising that [[First Officer]][[Lt.Cmdr]] Dale Bracken was her mother despite only being 4 years younger.

Sadly Mil never found out that he was to be a father, dying from injuries sustained during a mission before Aimee could tell him the news. As a result of her mixed Human/Bajoran heritage, Ailynn was born with isolated dexrocardia, a condition very rare in humans, though slightly more common in Human Bajoran hybrids due to different heart structure and axis. There is a possibility that she has other, as yet undetected medical issues</br>
Ailynn grew up struggling with her family's reputation, with two Captains on her mothers side, and her paternal grandmother, former Fleet First Officer [[Admiral]] Emmi Greene. Incorrectly feeling that she was pressured to 'follow in the footsteps' Ailynn took on more and more work in her late teens in a desperate attempt to prove herself worthy of the reputation that her family seemed to have in Starfleet, and in the Community as a whole. As a result of this she became used to using a derivative of amphetamine to keep herself awake, before slipping into regular use of harder recreational medicines. </br>
Eventually getting clean with the help of her mother; Ailynn graduated both Medical School and the Academy, following her mother's path by becoming a surgeon, though specialising in Neurosurgery and general thoracic. She was placed in foster care at the relatively late age of 13, after being rescued from a roaming space dwelling mini colony following their alleged acts of piracy. She initially rebelled at the ‘incarceration’ as she put it, demanding to be taken home. Shortly thereafter though, she began to settle, finding solace in the peace and cool of the local library, it was here that she first picked up a medical book, and though slightly sickened at the pictures at first, came to be fascinated at the workings of the human body, and the differences with other sentient species. Her foster parents, Kathryn and Edwin, a middle aged, childless couple of simple and modest, but comfortable and stable background, found Carena to possess an exceptionally sharp mind and keen intelligence beneath the hellcat exterior. With careful, gentle and patient handling, the 13 year old Carena slowly settled into a normal family life, and came to regard them as true parents, and slowly came to realise that her previous life had been one of servitude and lawlessness, amongst this background Carena found herself enjoying learning, and loving to learn new things, to the point that her foster parents had to prise books out of her hands to get her to take part in other activities.

After being assigned to the [[USS Hades]] as [[Assistant Chief Medical Officer]], Carena began to have what she eventually found out were flashbacks. They began by manifesting themselves mostly as nightmares and headaches. These gradually got worse, usually when she was tired; all this came to a head toward the end of a particular busy day. All her repressed childhood memories came rushing back, and it was only with the help of [[Eva Straton]], who happened to be in sickbay at the time, that she was able to retain her sanity and make sense of all the new memories. Coming to terms with this truth however, took a little longer, it was after a few long talks with [[Dale Bracken]], then [[First Officer]] of the [[USS Hades]] and a couple of difficult decisions, that she decided to change her name to Aimee Bracken.

At the age of twelve, Carena was found aboard a band of space fairers, pirates for the most part, the colony had been raided by the Fleet after numerous reported acts of Piracy. No-one amongst the small colony either claimed, or was found to be genetically related, so she was passed on for foster care. Carena at that age was virtually unreachable, possessing a hard nut of resistance, a ‘kernel of revolt’ one of the Child Service Agents called it, he knew that there was something beneath it, but she would be a ‘tough nut to crack’
The main focus of Carena’s anger was Edwin, the foster father that she riled against the most, he typified her incarceration despite never raising his fist or his voice, never treated her in any way other than with the most profound of respect and love.
The teenage Carena actually rebelled, especially now; actually it softened as intellectual maturity emerged; Edwin became rightfully accepted, Carena’s kernel eventually needed an outlet – and one was found. At the age of fifteen her Foster parents took her to a museum, which at the time had a medical exhibition on, at first the young Carena was disgusted, and sickened by the exhibit, but after a while a morbid fascination of the displays took her over, shortly after that, it was hard to get her out of the library, and even harder to prise books out of her hand. The Kernel, the hard nut, had found its focus, its drive. It had been sated.

It's often said by those closest to her that Aimee is a true ships' doctor, extremely hard working and driven, often having to be forced to rest and take a break if presented with a problem. She also detests Officers who spend more time 'flying a desk than a starship' and although highly respectful of superior officers and orders, has a tendency toward informality. Those that have served with her however, know well enough to leave her alone until the morning coffee has kicked in.

Somewhat reluctant Captain, initial assessment (1-2 days) shows that Aimee is struggling to let go of being a medic and thusly stopping herself from becoming the Command Officer that she is able to be.

She was placed in foster care at the relatively late age of 13, after being rescued from a roaming space dwelling mini colony following their alleged acts of piracy. She initially rebelled at the ‘incarceration’ as she put it, demanding to be taken home. Shortly thereafter though, she began to settle, finding solace in the peace and cool of the local library, it was here that she first picked up a medical book, and though slightly sickened at the pictures at first, came to be fascinated at the workings of the human body, and the differences with other sentient species. Her foster parents, Kathryn and Edwin, a middle aged, childless couple of simple and modest, but comfortable and stable background, found Carena to possess an exceptionally sharp mind and keen intelligence beneath the hellcat exterior. With careful, gentle and patient handling, the 13 year old Carena slowly settled into a normal family life, and came to regard them as true parents, and slowly came to realise that her previous life had been one of servitude and lawlessness, amongst this background Carena found herself enjoying learning, and loving to learn new things, to the point that her foster parents had to prise books out of her hands to get her to take part in other activities.

After being assigned to the [[USS Hades]] as [[Assistant Chief Medical Officer]], Carena began to have what she eventually found out were flashbacks. They began by manifesting themselves mostly as nightmares and headaches. These gradually got worse, usually when she was tired; all this came to a head toward the end of a particular busy day. All her repressed childhood memories came rushing back, and it was only with the help of [[Eva Straton]], who happened to be in sickbay at the time, that she was able to retain her sanity and make sense of all the new memories. Coming to terms with this truth however, took a little longer, it was after a few long talks with [[Dale Bracken]], then [[First Officer]] of the [[USS Hades]] and a couple of difficult decisions, that she decided to change her name to Aimee Bracken.

For a time, specifically in the 2280s, the rank of Cadet was superimposed (if not outright replaced) by the rank of Midshipman. (Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan)

Becoming a Starfleet cadet was a difficult process and required a significant amount of academic achievement while in high school. Academy entrance standards were particular high especially in scientific and math disciplines (such as Calculus). Cadets were also expected to maintain a satisfactory grade point average during their attendance at the Academy. Getting bad grades was grounds for a Cadet's revocation of appointment from the Academy, also known as "washing out". (TNG: "The First Duty", TNG: "Journey's End")

Starfleet Cadets were under the same uniform code of justice as Starfleet officers and were in turn subordinate to the orders of superiors. Cadets were also expected to show military courtesy and respect to senior commanders.

She was placed in foster care at the relatively late age of 13, after being rescued from a roaming space dwelling mini colony following their alleged acts of piracy. She initially rebelled at the ‘incarceration’ as she put it, demanding to be taken home. Shortly thereafter though, she began to settle, finding solace in the peace and cool of the local library, it was here that she first picked up a medical book, and though slightly sickened at the pictures at first, came to be fascinated at the workings of the human body, and the differences with other sentient species. Her foster parents, Kathryn and Edwin, a middle aged, childless couple of simple and modest, but comfortable and stable background, found Carena to possess an exceptionally sharp mind and keen intelligence beneath the hellcat exterior. With careful, gentle and patient handling, the 13 year old Carena slowly settled into a normal family life, and came to regard them as true parents, and slowly came to realise that her previous life had been one of servitude and lawlessness, amongst this background Carena found herself enjoying learning, and loving to learn new things, to the point that her foster parents had to prise books out of her hands to get her to take part in other activities.

After being assigned to the [[USS Hades]] as [[Assistant Chief Medical Officer]], Carena began to have what she eventually found out were flashbacks. They began by manifesting themselves mostly as nightmares and headaches. These gradually got worse, usually when she was tired; all this came to a head toward the end of a particular busy day. All her repressed childhood memories came rushing back, and it was only with the help of [[Eva Straton]], who happened to be in sickbay at the time, that she was able to retain her sanity and make sense of all the new memories. Coming to terms with this truth however, took a little longer, it was after a few long talks with [[Dale Bracken]], then [[First Officer]] of the [[USS Hades]] and a couple of difficult decisions, that she decided to change her name to Aimee Bracken.

==General Notes==

At the age of twelve, Carena was found aboard a band of space fairers, pirates for the most part, the colony had been raided by the Fleet after numerous reported acts of Piracy. No-one amongst the small colony either claimed, or was found to be genetically related, so she was passed on for foster care. Carena at that age was virtually unreachable, possessing a hard nut of resistance, a ‘kernel of revolt’ one of the Child Service Agents called it, he knew that there was something beneath it, but she would be a ‘tough nut to crack’
The main focus of Carena’s anger was Edwin, the foster father that she riled against the most, he typified her incarceration despite never raising his fist or his voice, never treated her in any way other than with the most profound of respect and love.
The teenage Carena actually rebelled, especially now; actually it softened as intellectual maturity emerged; Edwin became rightfully accepted, Carena’s kernel eventually needed an outlet – and one was found. At the age of fifteen her Foster parents took her to a museum, which at the time had a medical exhibition on, at first the young Carena was disgusted, and sickened by the exhibit, but after a while a morbid fascination of the displays took her over, shortly after that, it was hard to get her out of the library, and even harder to prise books out of her hand. The Kernel, the hard nut, had found its focus, its drive. It had been sated.

It's often said by those closest to her that Aimee is a true ships' doctor, extremely hard working and driven, often having to be forced to rest and take a break if presented with a problem. She also detests Officers who spend more time 'flying a desk than a starship' and although highly respectful of superior officers and orders, has a tendency toward informality. Those that have served with her however, know well enough to leave her alone until the morning coffee has kicked in.

Currenly aboard the [[USS Hades]] as [[Chief Medical Officer]] and [[Second Officer]] en-route to an unknown location to investigate the mysterious CONTROL.

For a time, specifically in the 2280s, the rank of Cadet was superimposed (if not outright replaced) by the rank of Midshipman. (Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan)

Becoming a Starfleet cadet was a difficult process and required a significant amount of academic achievement while in high school. Academy entrance standards were particular high especially in scientific and math disciplines (such as Calculus). Cadets were also expected to maintain a satisfactory grade point average during their attendance at the Academy. Getting bad grades was grounds for a Cadet's revocation of appointment from the Academy, also known as "washing out". (TNG: "The First Duty", TNG: "Journey's End")

Starfleet Cadets were under the same uniform code of justice as Starfleet officers and were in turn subordinate to the orders of superiors. Cadets were also expected to show military courtesy and respect to senior commanders.

For a time, specifically in the 2280s, the rank of Cadet was superimposed (if not outright replaced) by the rank of Midshipman. (Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan)

Becoming a Starfleet cadet was a difficult process and required a significant amount of academic achievement while in high school. Academy entrance standards were particular high especially in scientific and math disciplines (such as Calculus). Cadets were also expected to maintain a satisfactory grade point average during their attendance at the Academy. Getting bad grades was grounds for a Cadet's revocation of appointment from the Academy, also known as "washing out". (TNG: "The First Duty", TNG: "Journey's End")

Starfleet Cadets were under the same uniform code of justice as Starfleet officers and were in turn subordinate to the orders of superiors. Cadets were also expected to show military courtesy and respect to senior commanders.

'''Cadet''' is a rank which is used at Starfleet Academy to denote students in training to become Starfleet officers. The rank was used in the mid 23rd century throughout the late 24th century. (TOS: "Whom Gods Destroy", Star Trek V: The Final Frontier, TNG: "The Game")

For a time, specifically in the 2280s, the rank of Cadet was superimposed (if not outright replaced) by the rank of Midshipman. (Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan)

Becoming a Starfleet cadet was a difficult process and required a significant amount of academic achievement while in high school. Academy entrance standards were particular high especially in scientific and math disciplines (such as Calculus). Cadets were also expected to maintain a satisfactory grade point average during their attendance at the Academy. Getting bad grades was grounds for a Cadet's revocation of appointment from the Academy, also known as "washing out". (TNG: "The First Duty", TNG: "Journey's End")

Starfleet Cadets were under the same uniform code of justice as Starfleet officers and were in turn subordinate to the orders of superiors. Cadets were also expected to show military courtesy and respect to senior commanders.
