Rising three times higher than Mount Everest, Olympus Mons was active at least 40 million years ago, and perhaps more recently. Magma may still be close enough to the surface to support heat-loving bacteria like those found near hydrothermal vents on Earth. <br />

But bacteria likely need water to live in, too. Now Patrick McGovern and Julia Morgan think they may have found it, locked in thick layers of clay-rich sediments beneath the mountain. <br />

And yes people, even more political intrigue, and this time between the Federation, Klingons, and Romulans. Like spies? Got them all over the place; and assassins too. Of course, let us not forget about how our dear Doctor Leonard “Bones” McCoy developed his taste for Romulan Ale.<br />

This one book contains three good separate stories. I personally didn’t like the way the stories in this book were intertwined; primarily because of how the shift from one story to another took place. I’d be reading one story, then “BANG!” I’d find myself in a different story and get confused because of the sudden change. I’m a little slow like that at times. Overall, I really enjoyed this book; I read it at least four times; once front to back, then flipping through in order to read each individual story by itself. If you are not concerned with canon facts, this book makes a very good reference. Enjoy it; I did.<br />

And yes people, even more political intrigue, and this time between the Federation, Klingons, and Romulans. Like spies? Got them all over the place; and assassins too. Of course, let us not forget about how our dear Doctor Leonard “Bones” McCoy developed his taste for Romulan Ale.<br />

This one book contains three good separate stories. I personally didn’t like the way the stories in this book were intertwined; primarily because of how the shift from one story to another took place. I’d be reading one story, then “BANG!” I’d find myself in a different story and get confused because of the sudden change. I’m a little slow like that at times. Overall, I really enjoyed this book; I read it at least four times; once front to back, then flipping through in order to read each individual story by itself. If you are not concerned with canon facts, this book makes a very good reference. Enjoy it; I did.<br />

The USS Hades has been in Spacedock for weeks, but now she has been released and is headed for the sub-space river as part of her shake-down cruise. In the aftermath of the civil war, the New Federation is starting to rebuild, and as plans are put in to action, the Federation looks set to become a greater empire than it ever was.<br />

The idea of this new Federation has peaked the interest of it neighbours, namely the [[Romulan Star Empire]]. The new [[Romulan Praetor]] and his [[Romulan Senate|Senate]] have expressed a desire to establish a new peace treaty, and build bonds of friendship and generally improve relations within the quadrant.<br />

As a result, the USS Hades has been ordered to transport an ambassador to meet with the [[Romulan Praetor|Praetor]] on [[Romulus]] and discuss details of this new treaty. While this is taking place, the USS Hades and her crew are to be on standby, to assist the ambassador, and ultimate to the bring him home.<br />

According to intelligence reports, members of the [[Romulan Senate|Imperial Senate]] have already expressed objections to the peace treaty. With tensions mounting and old racial intollerances surfacing, the crew must keep a level head and be prepared for anything in Tribuo Senatus: A Senate Divided.<br />

Megselif resides on a planet in the Beta Quadrant cataloged as [[Beta Seranis III]] and mans the gateway there. He fought off an attempt by the [[Jobar]] to wrest the gateway from the Hyrangu which brought about the self-destruction of the Myenru colony. Megselif abducted and studied the [[Maraht the Horta|Horta Maraht]] during the away mission on the terraformed planets surface, owing to his conversation with the silicon based life form (A curiosity to the Hyrangu who had never seen such before) he tested the resolve then the peaceful intentions of the Federation group then allowed Maraht and the other Hades officers to leave peacefully. He also forwarded the request of the Federation representatives to his own ruling council for a face-to-face meeting between the civilizations after warning them that such was a matter unlikely to manifest in the short term. Megselif remains on Beta Seranis III to this day maintaining the gateway.<br />

Myenru are stocky and typically range in height from 4 1/2 to 5 feet though some may get taller. Myenru up to 5 1/2 feet in height are not unknown. Physically they are similar in some ways to Klingons with the obvious serrated appearing brow ridges of the upper forehead. Myenru tend to possess a very full head of hair. Hair color runs the gamut of dark colors, from dark browns and reds to black with some tawny blonds thrown into the mix for variety. Facial hair is also highly prized by the males. Myenru also may color their hair wildly for parties and religious festivals. <br />

The average Myenru is a bipedal humanoid averaging a height ranging from 4’6” to 5’0” in males of the species and 4’4” to 4’10” for the females of the species. The weight of the average Myenru is greater than might be expected, due to the lower cellulite to muscle ratio than possessed by most other species, with the males of the species possessing exceptionally dense musculature.<br />

The Myenru Body possesses all of the organs that are possessed by most higher order sentient species. This includes all of the major internal organs, and the physiological functions of those organs. Study indicates that the most important internal organs possess some innate redundancy. This can be seen in the structure of the heart muscle which possesses five chambers. The fifth chamber is usually at rest unless the Myenru is threatened or suffers from a medical deficiency of another portion of the heart. In the case of the threat response, the fifth chamber activates to increase blood flow to the body thereby increasing muscular strength and endurance. In the event of degenerative or damaged heart chambers, the fifth chamber runs constantly to pick up the deficiency caused by the damaged portion of the heart muscle.<br />

As a race the Myenru are naturally unwilling to accept other cultures, beliefs and points-of-view, and they instinctively distrust most other species. The Myenru people possess a great deal of aggression as a whole and naturally make excellent soldiers and police. Myenru culture is carefully organized around the heredity castes that developed on their home world. This organization is present throughout their history and cultural identity.<br />

They generally believe that they are prefect in their design, and therefore constantly strive to prove their superiority. The Myenru made first contact with the Federation on Stardate 2407.03.08, when a Myenru war fleet led by High Fleet Commander Mar’lor’garon was sent by the High Prelate Mor'Lor'Shel'Shabaz to investigate the prolonged silence from the Myenru colony of Ger'sha'san at coordinates 22554630. This Colony turned out to be [[Beta Seranis III]]. The [[USS Hades]] was surveying the planet, which showed no signs of colonization. This was later discovered that a species called the [[Jobar]] had attacked the colony in an attempt to destroy the [[Hyrangu]] watcher [[Megselif]]. The two species were at war with each other and had inadvertently caught the colony in the middle.<br />

The Myenru people at one time worshiped numerous deities, due to Mel'Kerah'Mesat'Hoku'Merak'Jela'Shan however the entire culture was forced into monotheism. There were literally hundreds of deities and although their names are no longer remembered, it is suspected that their names would be exceptionally long, due to the dominate Myenru naming practices. The High Prelate is the supreme religious figure chosen by the Arc Elders. Other lesser priests are stationed according to need. The religious codices of the priests are carried in phylacteries worn upon their persons at all times when in public, these codices are the blueprints for the indoctrination of the faithful and the destruction of any infidel races they may find. The highest governmental level of the Myenru species is the Onyx Throne. The Throne is controlled by the First Prime, or Primus, who is the effective head of the Governmental body responsible for the secular development and well-being of the Myenru people. The First Prime is the leader of the Myenru Military, although recent developments have given the High Prelate a great deal of control over the functions of the Onyx throne.<br />

The Current First Prime is Hel'shem'blac. He assumed the throne with the assistance of the current High Prelate Mor'Lor'Shel'Shabaz after his father died prematurely and his four brothers threatened to thrust the Empire into Civil War. The Primus is very young and is just now realizing that he was manipulated into ceding several critical powers to the High Prelate.<br />

Several Periods of geological activity has been identified and correlated with the known tidal actions of the Myenru Binary Stellar system. These periods clearly reveal a precise record of the events that helped mold the world on which the Myenru live. The summertime is the time of greatest solar storms. The autumns offer a nearly constant deluge of rain, and as the vast majority of the planet surface is porous, there is very little flooding. The winter seasons are bitterly cold, and most life on the planet hibernates or is flash-frozen to await the thaw.<br />

Throughout the geological history of the planet, there have been colossal solar storms that have boiled away the atmosphere of the planet. Each of the three times that this has occurred, simple bacteria have managed to survive and recreate the atmosphere within a matter of years. All of the life forms on Myena have adapted their biological functions to withstand severe climatic changes. <br />

It is only recently, within the last 130 million years that life on Myena V has managed to evolve to a civilized level. This Life is extremely diverse and equally deadly, with the predominant lifeforms, the Myenru; representing the pinnacle of life on that planet.<br />

<div>Saleke is a Vulcan who was born on Formhauldt Nakrat, the son of Sakal and Telek. Saleke's siblings are T'alen who currently is married and resides on Vulcan and Skashe who was stationed on Edmun 2. Skashe was listed as KIA at that remote Alpha Quadrant base on stardate 2406.11.03.<br />

Saleke and his siblings traveled with his mother and father while they were stationed on the Vulcan Scientific Research Ship Nahru and became intensely curious of the sciences himself, especially geology. He carries a number of mineral samples taken from the Nahru's stores, his most valuable being a brilliant blue Anelurian crystal which has many similarities to a dilithium crystal though not as efficient at storing and releasing energy.<br />

Saleke graduated from the Vulcan Academy of Arts and Sciences with honors and enrolled in StarFleet Academy where he majored in the sciences and studied military tactics. Saleke has an extremely agile mind and quickly absorbed what the Academy offered and unexpectedly found his first commission aboard the USS Nimitz to be that of CSO on stardate 2406.06.20.<br />

During his time on the Nimitz he was promoted to Lt.(jg) on stardate 2406.10.02 along with joining the command crew of the ship as third officer. During his time on the Nimitz he participated in one battle, that with the Archimedes and the Alamo when the Nimitz destroyed the Defiant class vessel USS Alamo commanded by Henre LaBeau and his Klingon FO, Commander Galk. He was on the away team that boarded and took control of the USS Archimedes, an anti-matter trawler as interimn FO of the vessel. These actions were taken to acquire necessary anti-matter fuel for the 52nd Fleet. <br />

During his time on the Mystique Saleke has participated in several missions including the liberation of Beta Kelindra 5 which he commanded and the scientific survey of Malcolm's Star. <br />

Saleke has studied a form of ancient Vulcan martial arts during the time he has been on the Mystique called Ka'Fi'Ra and is becoming quite proficient. He is a natural leader, highly disciplined and logical.<br />

Due to Captain Winters long term incapacitation Saleke was promoted to Captain and CO of the Mystique on stardate 2407.02.05.<br />

Orders have been received to transfer his crew and command from the Mystique to the new Prometheus class starship USS Hades on stardate 2407.02.18.<br />

The launch of the Hades was pushed back to stardate 2407.03.10 due to technical problems related to the newly installed TIHS system and changes to the cloaking system which allow the saucer section to use the type IV cloak when in 3/V mode. <br />

Beta Seranis III was reached on 2407.03.17 and 3 full days was spent surveying the planet, the Hyrangu Megselif was discovered along with clues to the former Myenru colony that had inhabited the planet up to 2 years ago. Upon leaving the planet the ship was met by a Myenru warfleet and was fired upon by the command ship Dreadmonger. Though the improved genesis device was destroyed it inflicted substantial damage to the ship and changed a few of the crew who will have to be tended to after the battle. After undergoing repairs within an asteroid belt between the fourth and fifth planets the Hades has emerged in 3/V mode and has attacked the Myenru fleet. After successfully defeating the Myenru warfleet the Hades resumed its survey mission then returned to Starbase Geneva to finalize repairs and replenish stores. Over the course of the next several months the Hades was sent on a number of "milk run" missions by command, it was just prior to the final fleet assault on the Sol system Captain Saleke learned why, he had been chosen to command what would qualify as a "suicide mission" to take down a number of early warning posts that were strategically placed along the route the 52nd Fleet would use in an invasion. The USS Poseidon, a Norway class cruiser was given him to command and the ship and crew performed valiantly during the operation, all objectives were reached. During the extraction however during an attack the ship was heavily damaged and broke up soon after, all hands were lost during the operation save the captain himself whos lifeboat was marooned on an unnamed planet near the Canopius system. <br />
On Stardate 2408.01.03 Saleke completed cobbling together a low powered transmitter from the mangled remains of the craft and his signal was intercepted three days later by a Bajoran Free Trade vessel that was passing near the system. Saleke was taken aboard the Mesipal which later that evening rendezvoued with the galaxy class USS Potomac and was delivered to Starbase Geneva for convalescence to recover from a variety of afflictions gleaned from the nearly barren planetoid. Captain Saleke is currently then on leave and awaiting reassignment into the fleet. <br />

The religious codices of the priests are carried in phylacteries worn upon their persons at all times when in public, these codices are the blueprints for the indoctrination of the faithful and the destruction of any infidel races they may find. Possession of religious literature or at the very least obedience to the codices is expected of every Myenru. Beta Seranis III was colonized in 2318 by a warlike race known as the [[Myenru]]. The Myenru were unaware the planet was already inhabited by a member of an extradimensional race known as the [[Hyrangu]]. The Hyrangan representative was manning the Gateway, an interdimensional anchor point for the race's intergalactic hyper-jump technology. The housing for the Gateway and the living quarters for the representative known as [[Megselif]] is 5 kilometers below the surface of the planet. The planetary system resides at the outer edge of the influence of the Myenru Empire.<br />
The Hyrangu representative was unperturbed by the presence of the Myenru as their technology was insufficient to penetrate his screens and discover his hiding place so he was content to carry out his duties unobtrusively. A ship was sent through the comtinuums to attack Beta Seranis III in an attempt to wrest control of the gateway, Megselif fought off the interlopers with little damage to his facility, the Myenru colony however was nearly wiped from the surface. Thinking themselves about to be conquered which is abhorent to the Myenru they used a self destruct mechanism in the form of their version of the genesis device. The surface of the planet was changed and no evidence of the colony remained, a Myenru ship in orbit at the time however was heavily damaged and crashed after the genesis effect had subsided, this derelict was found and explored by an away team from the [[USS Hades|Hades]].<br />
One of the officers on the Hades involved in one of the away teams was Maraht the Horta, the presence of the silicon based life form fascinated Megselif who transported him to the enormous cavern which is his home base. Though the improved genesis device was destroyed it inflicted substantial damage to the ship and changed a few of the crew who will have to be tended to after the battle. After undergoing repairs within an asteroid belt between the fourth and fifth planets the Hades has emerged in 3/V mode and has attacked the Myenru fleet. After successfully defeating the Myenru warfleet the Hades resumed its survey mission then returned to Starbase Geneva to finalize repairs and replenish stores. Over the course of the next several months the Hades was sent on a number of "milk run" missions by command, it was just prior to the final fleet assault on the Sol system Captain Saleke learned why, he had been chosen to command what would qualify as a "suicide mission" to take down a number of early warning posts that were strategically placed along the route the 52nd Fleet would use in an invasion. The USS Poseidon, a Norway class cruiser was given him to command and the ship and crew performed valiantly during the operation, all objectives were reached. During the extraction however during an attack the ship was heavily damaged and broke up soon after, all hands were lost during the operation save the captain himself whos lifeboat was marooned on an unnamed planet near the Canopius system. <br />
On Stardate 2408.01.03 Saleke completed cobbling together a low powered transmitter from the mangled remains of the craft and his signal was intercepted three days later by a Bajoran Free Trade vessel that was passing near the system. Saleke was taken aboard the Mesipal which later that evening rendezvoued with the glaxy class USS Potomac and was delivered to Starbase Geneva for convalescence to recover from a variety of afflictions gleaned from the nearly barren planetoid. Captain Saleke is currently then on leave and awaiting reassignment into the fleet. <br />
