==History== Ono Nakamura grew up in his native Japan on Earth and the oldest of two sons. His father, Hiro Nakamura was a Commander with the Starfleet Diplomatic Corps and was well regarded as a skilled diplomat and peacemaker. His mother was a renowned psychotherapist with a private practice in Tokyo. As Ono matured, he began to take an interest in Martial Arts. His skill and discipline allowed him to take three martial arts tournament trophies home before the age of 17. He studied Zen Archery, Bushido and Kendo, all of which proved to be a natural fit for him. In 2384, Ono's father was killed when his shuttle was overtaken by Orion Pirates during a peace negotiation. Ono grieved, but determined to follow in his father's foot steps and join Starfleet. He applied to and was accepted to the Starfleet Academy the following year. Originally, Ono had intended to become a first contact specialist or diplomat like his father, but he simply had no talent in it. Instead, it was discovered that his true skill was in engineering. despite the fact that Ono did not particularly care for the discipline, he grudgingly accepted his aptitude and under the guidance of the academy instructors managed to graduate 36th in his class in 2389. He was assigned to the USS Avenger (NCC-635447) as a junior engineering officer. There he developed a love of Bajoran art and cooking. He did well in his assignment and was slowly promoted until his transfer to the USS Providence (NCC-76037) in 2391 with a change of position to Assistant Chief Engineering Officer. Aboard the Providence, he served with distinction when the ship was ambushed by a squadron of Orion Pirates. When a direct hit to the main engineering bay threatened to destroy the ship, Ono sprang into action and prevented a Warp Core Breach, saving the lives of the crew of the Providence. For his actions he was awarded the Medal of Distinction in late 2391. The following year, Ono, once again transferred, this time, to the USS Medea (NCC-81901), where he reached the rank of Lieutenant and the Position of Chief Engineering Officer. In 2393, the USS Medea was exploring an uncharted section of the Beta Quadrant and disappeared. After months of searching, the Medea was declared lost with all hands.
