== The Setting ==

The Federation has lost its way and become vulnerable to hostile forces. Several member worlds have left, creating a dark and unpredictable time.

Admiral Remae Ktell is assigned to run the newly reinvented Mars Defense Perimeter (MDP). The Federation has decided to rebuild from the inside out, starting with its core assets in the Sol System. Andor has withdrawn, taking its technology, including heavily weaponized systems, with it.

The Admiral is tasked with overseeing the combined station and building a team to restore Starfleet's presence in the Alpha Quadrant. This new team must investigate the status of the fleet, outposts, and Federation allies, determining who remains a friend and who has become an adversary.

== The 52nd Fleet ==

Star Trek : Freedom chronicles the adventures of the '''52nd Fleet''', a Federation task force operating during a time of internal crisis. After the Federation [[About Civil_War|civil war]] ended in 2408, Starfleet adopted a defensive posture that led to contraction and the disbanding of most fleets, including the 52nd Fleet in 2431. Following "The Incident" in 2443, when Earth was attacked and millions were killed, President Stiave Atremi was elected and tasked Admiral Remae Ktell with rebuilding Starfleet. The fleet faced the growing threat of the rogue '''Admiral Doenitz''' and his faction of breakaway Starfleet forces. After a brutal conflict, Admiral Doenitz was defeated, and the Federation began to rebuild in earnest.

== About Star Trek : Freedom ==

Star Trek : Freedom is a free, long-running Star Trek role-playing game that began as a traditional PBeM with a close-knit membership. Since 1997, we have grown into a broader '''community-driven Star Trek project''', supporting banner exchanges, links, forums, top lists, and now a fully restored and expanding wiki archive.

Our game is set in the year 2446. Two years ago, we revamped the game, originally founded in 1997, to align with the current canon timeline. This includes the destruction of Romulus and the concept of a contracting Federation, aligning with events depicted in modern Star Trek series.

Although we love playing in the timeline of The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, and Voyager, those shows are decades old and we've explored them extensively. We're refreshing our game to appeal to both a new generation of players and longtime fans.
