== Pre-Starfleet History ==

Gr'iann was born on Caitia Prime. His parents died while he was young at the hands of a criminal. Gr'iann was then raised by his clan. His anger over the untimely death of his parents made it difficult to maintain his pacifism. But through the help of the clans doctor he was able to overcome it. As it was he did not take his oath of pacifism until his 14th birthday. Gr'iann followed his mentor into the field of medicine and became one of the top physicians on Caitia Prime. He was on the team that found the cure for the Caitian Plague. After that, Gr'iann went to other planets to study their medical techniques. It was during this time that he came to the aid of a Starfleet vessel. His performance so impressed the captain of the vessel that he was recommended to Starfleet medical.
