== Medical History == Stolev has a history of head trauma, dating back to his days in secondary school. He sustained a serious concussion at that time as a result of an accident while in school. Another serious concussion sustained in the line of duty caused him to forget all intermediate events and he thought he was in back in secondary school again. Thorough therapy and specialized medical treatment on Earth, he was able to regain his memory. As a side effect of his treatment, his synaptic patterns have been altered and his mental self-control strengthened. This makes it difficult for telepaths to discern his thoughts when he is at ease, and makes it almost impossible if he is actively trying to prevent it. A separate incident on Betazed resulted in further medical treatment and rehabilitation at Starbase Geneva. In addition to these incidents, Stolev is an alcoholoic. Though his alcoholism is currently under control, and he has been sober since before his current assignment began, it continues to be a battle that he wages daily with himself.
