Jay ordered the Serenity into quickly dive after the out of control pirate vessel. Jay tried to close on the ship knowing that if the pirate vessel did not stop its out of control dive it would implode as the pressure got to high.  There was too much debree and silt drifting down from where the battle which was disrupting the transporter lock as well as the power leaking from the massive reactor meant that they were not able to get the crew off the stricken pirate vessel. As the Serenity closed the distance she fired a set of grappling cables. Jay was trying to grapple the pirate vessel so that it could pull the vessel back to the surface. The pirate vessel fired again at the Serenity as it closed, Jay ordered evasive manoeuvres to reduce the damage from the pirate’s weapon fire. The Serenity pulled up getting some distance from the pirate vessel as the damage it had inflicted was dealt with. By the time the Serenity got the flooding under control and began to descend, the pirate vessel suddenly imploded with a flash of light and then a powerful explosion as the pirate vessel structural integrity failed.
