===Pre-Starfleet History===
Jynea was eight when a Star Fleet raid brought an end to the Orion base on Redlar VI. Jynea's mother begged a place as a servant in the Captain's familial home for her daughter and herself. Jynea found Earth a strange planet to live on. The sky was clear and *blue* not *orange*, the air didn't taste burnt and the people didn't walk place to place hunched over and fearful of who was around them. She found the junior school she was enrolled in fascinating, she was quick to learn the arts of reading and writing. Many of her fellow students didn't quite know what to make of a child who was functionally illiterate and had lived poorer than a slave. She did her best to smile, be friendly and to listen when they spoke. Jynea learnt it's a wonderful magic when you listen to someone. They gain confidence, they talk about their problems and often solve their own problems just by talking it out. It made them feel better, it made her feel better because they were feeling better, and often she'd made a friend. It took all the friends of the school to get her caught up and ready to graduate the school at sixteen. Many long nights were spent reading data and puzzling out the strange magic called 'mathematics' Jynea asked Captain Clarke if he would sponsor her into the academy. She wanted to help children like she had been reach freedom and opportunity. Clarke was doubtful that the young woman could make it past the arduous tests. Surprising even herself she was accepted into the counseling department. Jynea didn't graduate with honours, in fact she barely graduated at all. While she receives full marks in counseling techniques, her empathy and her ability to help people, she lacks in the long term counseling skills and has a very limited understanding of anything outside of counseling. She doesn't understand Engineering, she can't fly a shuttle except on auto-pilot, and science tends to confuse her. She was advised to apply to a large ship that could compensate for her lack of knowledge, as a morale officer. A position in which she could help people on the short-term and deal with the problems counselors are sometimes too busy to deal with.
