Editing Asrai Pain Field Belt

The [[Asrai Pain Field Belt]] is a non lethal personal defense weapon that was first encountered on  the [[planet]] [[Asrai Prime]]. The device consists of a self-contained power system that draws additional power from latent static electricity generated by the movement of the wearer.  The belt is functional and provides a protective cocoon of invisible energy around the wearer. The field does not seem to interact with inanimate objects, although it may potential cause damage or interference with advanced electronics.

The belt was worn by members of the Religious order of the [[Asrai|Order of the Baneful]]. This order was the enforcement arm of a complex and fanatical religious government that was responsible for the tyrannical oppression of technology and technical development on the [[planet]].

The belts worked through some unknown interface with the victim. The affects were immediate debilitating pain. The field caused the victim's pain receptors to become hyper-sensitive and flood the body with extreme discomfort and pain. Both [[Rank|Captain]] [[Ahmed Ibn Salid]] and [[Rank|Ensign]] [[Tayla Fraiser]] were subjected to it's effects during their incarceration by the [[Asrai|Voice of the Oracle of the Golden Temple]].

It was discovered that the wearer of a pain belt was only immune to the fields produced by their own belt and not from the fields from belts worn by others. Salid suspected that the belts could be attuned, but that over the centuries that the [[Asrai]] had forgotten how to adjust them so that wearers could work in unison at close range with each other.
