Editing Canopius System

The [[Canopius System]] is a section of space that is located inside the [[United Federation of Planets]] and is adjacent to the [[Romulan Neutral Zone]]. The area was a critical early Warning and supply area for Starfleet during the [[Federation Civil War]].  During Early 2406 the defenses of the area were under the protection of the 2nd Fleet, commanded by [[Rank|Rear Admiral]] [[Errol Heatherby]]. 

In 2407, the [[USS Poseidon]] commanded by [[Rank|Captain]] [[Saleke]] entered the system and proceeded to destroy several early warning outposts and disrupt critical war supplies.  The Poseidon, was destroyed by the [[USS Defender]] and all hand except Saleke were lost.  Saleke crash landed his [[Escape Pod]] on the planetoid [[Alpha Serapsis 149]] and would remain there for the remainder of the [[Federation Civil War]].

Two months after the destruction of the Poseidon a 52nd Fleet Vanguard force swept into the system led by the [[USS Amistadt]]. The Amistadt captured the Defender and the 2nd fleet's commanding officer. That same task force would then proceed to the final battle of the Civil War; The Battle for [[Sector 001]].

The Canopius System was not considered a strategically important system, a fact which was exploited effectively by the 52nd fleet.
