The '''Freedom Class''' is a Federation starship design with only one [[Nacelle]]. 

The Freedom Class starship project was originally implemented in 2363 to develop a small but powerful destroyer class vessel that could be used inside the borders of the UFP for the purpose of patrolling shipping lanes and rendering aid as needed to freighters and those traversing across UFP space.

The vessel was never intended to be a long-term independent design and was intended to resupply once a year from outposts within the UFP. The class had no secondary engineering hull, instead all compartments except for main engineering were contained within the singular saucer section. main engineering is located in a small section attached at the base of the pylon atop the warp nacelle.

The designers settled on the familiar galaxy Class saucer to comprise the bulk of the vessel. The Pylon was borrowed from the refit Constitution class ship and was configured in a manner similar to the failed Hermes Class test vessel.

The single nacelle was taken from the familiar [[Galaxy Class]] design due to its unique staggered [[Warp Coil]] design. This aided significantly in the warp shell stability of the vessel.

The ship is not particularly fast or powerful for a vessel of her classification. Her role, being mostly one of law-enforcement was not designed to be utilized in a more aggressive Military role.

However, during the [[Borg]] incursion into Federation space. The USS Firebrand, a vessel of this class participated in the Battle of Wolf 359, where she was lost with all hands.
