Jana Bell is a strong-looking woman, although not overly muscled. She is tall and agile, and despite her long limbs is still graceful and lithe. She maintains her physique through regular exercise and a variety of sports. She is also very attractive, a fact she often tries to hide.

Prior to discovering her true origins, Jana believed she had been born and raised on a remote sheep station in Central Australia. Her parents were Jill and Andrew Bell, who had spent all their married life raising sheep and children. Jana believed she was the oldest of the 10 children and was the first member of the family to join Starfleet, although other siblings have since followed. Jana is currently married to Commodore [[Remae Ktell]].

Earlier Jana returned home to Earth on a quest to discover a hinted-at family secret. On confronting her parents she discovered they were not related to her at all, and that her 9 siblings were also not blood relatives. Further research indicated she and her siblings were the only survivors from a Borg attack on an illegal genetics research station. The 10 children had all been genetically altered, but in Jana's case, the improvement was only an increase in 10 IQ points and a slight improvement in hand-eye coordination and reflexes. This Family secret has remained just that. Jana is also an excellent communicator, leader, and team-member. She makes people feel comfortable through the use of humor and obvious respect for other crew.

Jana's medical history of being subjected to illegal genetics research has flowed to Jason, his IQ is a little higher than normal but nothing else seems to have changed. Jason is aware of Jana's personal life as a child.

Jana is a very avid athlete and tries to exercise as often as possible. She is also a proponent of many forms of martial arts.

Jana excelled at school and dreamed of studying medicine and becoming a Starfleet doctor. She has no memory of her time on the research station, her real parents or their escape from the Borg. Her adoptive parents inform her that the memory was erased permanently by Starfleet Medical. Entered Starfleet Academy at age 18 and studied medicine and command. Whilst in medical training she specialized in the physiology of Alpha Quadrant species. She also conducted extensive research on the cloning of replacement organs for different species. Also worked on research projects involving the use of medical nanites in surgical procedures. Post-medical training experience - Worked in various research facilities on Earth. After graduating from Starfleet, Jana was posted to the USS Spectre as CMO where she eventually became Second Officer. She was then transferred to the USS Nimitz as FO and for a while temporary CO., She was then given her own ship in the USS Wraith. Since becoming an Admiral, she has fought to keep command of the USS Wraith and while Starfleet was in decline around her, she continued to run missions for the highest levels of Starfleet Command
