A neurocortical monitor is a device used to record a complete encephelographic profile. It is placed on the parietal bone and can be programmed to send an alert to sickbay if it detects any unusual neurological activity. In 2373, The Doctor had Lieutenant Commander Tuvok wear a neurocortical monitor in order to record a complete encephelographic profile if he had another episode related to his mental breakdown. (VOY: "Flashback") Later that year, Ensign Vorik wore a cortical monitor while The Doctor was trying to treat his pon farr.
