Physical Description:
Having grown up on the water world of Typhon, Nico has the sun-streaked hair, olive skin and hardy lithe body of a surfer. He always seems to be smiling, or at least looking amused and at ease with himself and his environment. Nico hardly ever gets stressed.

==Family and Background==
Born on Typhon to Piotr and Louisa Tchaikovsky, Nico spent most of his early years in the ocean - curveboarding and scuba diving while his parents worked as meteorologists at a number of the 'Lighthouse Projects' scattered around and under the oceans of Typhon. Nico is an only child and hasn't had any contact with cousins and extended family. His parents still live and work on Typhon. At the age of thirteen, Nico rode his curveboard across the trecherous Charybdis Strait - a feat which horrified his mother and led to him being sent to boarding school on Vega Colony.

==Education==
Nico studied at the Typhon Institute after high school, specialising in the areas of psychology and anthropology, gaining some recognition for his research into ocean- and water-dependent societies. He transferred to the Sorbonne on Earth in his final year and completed his studies there, receiving a Masters in Psychology. He also began tutoring first year students and was convinced to take on a diploma in teaching which he completed alongside his regular studies. Nico was accepted into Starfleet where he specialised in xenopsychology and crisis diplomacy, including a four-month stint on the cold planet of Andor.

==Pre-Starfleet History==
As a teenager, Nico was successful on the professional curveboard circuit which toured a number of Federation planets. He managed to reach the Top 20 juniors before giving away the sport to concentrate on his studies. In addition to his studies at the Sorbonne, Nico worked as a tutor for first year students - specifically non-human students.

==Starfleet History==
After graduation, Nico was assigned to the USS Spectre as a counsellor.

==Medical History==
There have been no major medical incidents in his life so far.

==Skills==
His studies in psychology, anthropology and crisis diplomacy have endowed Nico with a keen awareness of the nuancies of societies and the individuals who make up their number. He is a quiet observer of everything. As a former champion curveboarder, Nico has excellent balance and is a strong swimmer, both above and below the surface. Nico is fluent in standard, English, Italian and French languages; and has some competency in Andorian and Russian.

==Hobbies==
Nico is a passionate environmentalist, particularly ocean ecosystems and coastal environments. He is also an excellent curveboarder and likes to spend as much of his free time as possible in or around water.

==General Notes==
Nico is a pacifist. Although he trained in hand to hand combat and self-defence programmes at Starfleet, his heart just wasn't in it. He will not deliberately hurt another being, unless he believes he has no other choice - and even then he will consider all the angles before acting.
