Editing Otto Totenkampf

Doctor [[Otto Totenkampf]] is a renowned [[Federation]] Archeologist specializing in the extinct [[Iconian]] Empire. He is renowned for his work on [[Xega III]], one of the last marginally inhabitable planets that once housed part of the Iconian civilization.

Over the course of three decades, Totenkampf and a small hand-selected team of fellow archeologists surveys and categorized thousands of Iconian sites across that world. Their work revolutionized the way in which the Iconian Civilization was depicted and understood.

In 2408, during a routine resupply mission by the [[USS Rosenante]] doctor Totenkampf discovered the fabled [[Balancer Machine]] which was reputed to be able to restore the planet to health, by removeing and absorbing harmful radiation from the planet's upper atmosphere.

The doctor inadvertently activated the device and as a result he and his team, along with the away teams from the Rosenante had to be evacuated from the planet's surface in a hurry. The crew and the Doctor then watched as the device fired a massive beam into the planet's sun and started a rejuvination process. 

Doctor Totenkampf and his team were retunred to the surface of the planet to resume their studies.

During his long career, the Doctor has written dozens of books. [[Rank|Captain]] [[Ahmed Ibn Salid]] was familiar with his work and owned two of the doctors most renown works on the Iconian Civilization.
