The Solo Flight Project was nearing its prototype test flight and with the disappearance of the 51st fleet for 5 years. Starfleet decided to look into Unmanned Multimode Tactical Support Craft or UMTSC. They wanted an autonomous small fighter which could be deploy in great numbers and quick to build. The designers used the Gueken fighter as their starting point for their prototype design some of its design features can be seen in the final design. They are approximately 8 meters in length with a low profile, sleek design and can be deployed as tactical escorts to a mother starship, patrol craft for star bases or planets. A starship shuttle bay or external cargo bay can be refitted to accommodate their rapid deployment and recovery and they managed to get it into production and operational where is performed above expectation. They were also looking at a deep space reconnaissance and exploration model with warp capability but with the return of the 52nd fleet the political clement had changed and then project was shut down

UMTSC or Wingman has two impulse systems fed by a micro fusion plant. It is armed with Phaser Cannons and two mini quantum torpedoes launchers. It can be transported by a starship or towed by a war capable craft. The Wingman is controlled by a neural link and pilot can control up to six wingman fighters at one time with computer assistance.
