The [[Darson Deep Space Array]] is a powerful intelligence gathering sensor array located inside [[Federation]] space. It's task is to monitor activity along the [[Federation]] - [[Romulan]] border. It is situationed within 13 [[Light Year]]s of [[Starbase 989]].

In 2414, the Array detected the presence of two [[Borg]] vessels in the [[Beta Quadrant]] en route to the [[Dovek II|Dovek System]]. The array was able to send detailed images to [[Starfleet Command]] which quickly identified the vessels as a [[Borg Tactical Cube]] and a [[Borg Pyramid]].

As [[Dovek II]] was once part of the [[Tkon Empire]] and it was feared that the Borg may be attempting to locate and assimilate ancient [[Tkon]] technology, command dispatched the [[USS Boudicca]] and the [[USS Rosenante]] to investigate and interdict as needed.
