In 2367, an ancient unmanned sublight [[starship|freighter]] carrying toxic waste was pulled into orbit around Gamelan V, and began leaking massive radiation into the atmosphere. Ambient radiation levels increased by upwards of 3,000%. Chairman Songi, the planet's leader, contacted the USS Enterprise-D, under the command of William Riker, for help. The Enterprise was able to save the planet by tractoring the barge into the Gamelan sun. (TNG: "Final Mission")
