The [[USS Defender]] was a [[Federation]] [[Starship]] of the [[Sovereign Class]]. it was heavily modified and considered to be a [[Keltoi Class]] killer.

The ship served primarily during the federation Civil War and was part of the 2nd Fleet assigned to the flank of the line assigned near the [[Canopius System]].

The vessel became the flagship for then [[Rank|Rear Admiral]] [[Errol Heatherby]] who was in command of the 2nd Fleet.
