This squad is the conglomerate of several different squads that were nearly
wiped out during a Cardassian War. In a last-ditch effort of desperate
measures, they were sent to defend a Starfleet Outpost, and even after heavy
fighting held the outpost until reinforcements arrived. They elected to stay
together and form a new squad, rather then reform the four that were previously
destroyed.<br>
