The Veil of the Sky is a pro-isolationist group who seized power on the planet Beta Aquillia IV. They were a political voice against the inclusion of their world into the United Federation of Planets.
In 2414, they suddenly performed a violent coup against the government of the planet, displacing the leadership there and using military equipment, managed to take control of the planet's infrastructure using well-coordinated attacks.
The President of the Aquillian Government, who was on the verge of finalizing the planet's membership into the UFP was captured and imprisoned. Non-Aquillians all over the planet were arrested and placed into internment camps for processing. Amongst the prisoners taken was the Federation Ambassador and his staff and family.
In return for their release, the Aquillians demanded complete non-interference from the Federation and also immediate recognition for their new ruling government.
The victory was not complete, as the planet was engulfed in a severe civil war between the members of this pro-isolationist movement and the embattled pro-Federation government.
The USS Rosenante was dispatched to liberate the citizens of the Federation that were taken hostage there.
