The USS Roland

The USS Roland is a Federation starship of the Excelsior Class. She is a well decorated and renowned vessel, serving with distinction along the Romulan and Orion borders. The ship was equipped with an experimental phaser array which was later refined into the Type XII phasers found on Sovereign Class starships.

As a boy, Ahmed Ibn Salid was aboard this ship with his mother and father, both of which were Starfleet officers.

The Roland is still an active ship, assigned primarily to Diplomatic duties. She served during the Federation Civil War as a system patrol vessel and was damaged in the Battle of Andoria by Andorian Defense forces.
