Deneb IV

Deneb IV is inhabited by the Bandi

There may be two different planets called Deneb IV.

23rd century[edit]

Many of the inhabitants of Deneb IV communicate telepathically. In at least three cases, during the 2260s, Gary Mitchell carried on long telepathic conversations with select Deneb IV natives and scored 80% or higher on comprehension.

During the first half of the 23rd century, a young James T. Kirk and Gary Mitchell came to this planet, where Mitchell got involved with a woman. Kirk stated that he'd been worried about Mitchell ever since that night, and Mitchell referred to the girl as a Nova, a pun suggesting the danger he was in. (TOS: "Where No Man Has Gone Before")

There was a Computer readout describing Gary Mitchell's visit to Deneb IV

24th century[edit]

The Class M world Deneb IV is the fourth planet in the Deneb system and homeworld of the humanoid Bandi.

In 2364, Deneb IV was the first destination of the new USS Enterprise-D, sent to examine the newly-built Starfleet outpost Farpoint Station. (TNG: "Encounter at Farpoint")

Background[edit]

There is some question as to if this world, said to be on the outer fringes explored space, is the same world Kirk and Mitchell visited. Both the fact the world has telepaths in TOS, and its extreme distances in TNG support the idea of being separate, but as of yet there is no canon information regarding this. This has given rise to the theory that there are two Deneb systems, much like there are two systems containing planets named Taurus II. For further detail refer to Deneb.
