Gerratlian
Gerratlians are a bipedal ursoid species that originate on the planet Gerratlus IV in the Alpha Quadrant. Their world is a member world of the United Federation of Planets.
The Gerratlians are well known for their technical and scientific abilities. They are renowned as careful and consistent researchers, who consider the impact of their technological development upon their natural environment.
They are religious, in the sense that they revere the aspect and wonder of nature. They refer to her as "The Goddess".
Gerratlians often form close knit family groups, dedicated to furthering the intellectual development of their young, as well as stewarding their guardianship of their natural resources. They often embrace their natural states, eating raw meet, and often hunting wild game for sustenance. Their world is fairly well isolated, more so than most other planets, due to their distinct disinterest in larger urban centers.
Commander Zzt is from this world, and his intelligence and technical know-how is an indicator of the general stewardship that the Gerratlians hold for their world.
