Ensign John Linskens

John Linskens was a science officer serving aboard the USS Boudicca in 2407. That year, he was tasked to accompany the away team down to the planet Iradon where, Lieutenant Colonel Eva Straton had crashed.

The planet was unusual. It possessed a Quantum Signature of an object from another universe. As John's expertise spanned across many different scientific fields including warp field dynamics, xenobiology, information technology, geophysics and multi-dimensional theorems, he was excited to tag along.

John had recently had a prosthetic device known as AISORS installed due to extensive damage to his auditory nerves. These devices would prove to be a bane for the ensign as he operated on the surface of Iradon.

Almost from the time that the away team crashed on the surface of the planet, JOhn began to experience significant problems with his AISORS. The devices seemed to be hypersensitive and this prevented Linskens from being able to rest. Over the course of the mission, Linskens slowly was pushed into a state of dementia, which was exasperated by the fact that some unidentified entity was beginning to use the AISORS to possess and influence the young scientist.

During the Mission Linskens was able to decipher the local language and identify it as Iconian. This was exceptionally beneficial since the away team's equipment was non-functional due to quantum interference on the planet. Linskens therefore served as translator for the away team whenever it was necessary to communicate with any of the planet's inhabitants.

Because of his growing dementia and paranoia, Linskens began to think of himself as some sort of religious prophet. He was possessed in the temple of Alazara by an unknwn entity, where he delivered some prophetic instructions. As this was in the presence of the Priestess of the Temple in Kondalka Village, Bowen. He was declared a prophet of the Goddess.

The presence of Matthew McLaren at the time and the title of Builder of Automotons as spoken of by the possessed scientist, also ensured that McLaren was also idolized.

Later when the party was on thier journey to see Cereus it was determined by Matthew McLaren that the runabout's systems could be recalibrated to function in the quantum interference caused by the planet Iradon. Since the away team could not use any of their equipment at the time, the only person capable of performing the calculations necessary to perform the modifications was Linskens.

Matthew McLaren, Skeel Moctatso and john Linskens returned to the crashsite of the Rameses and began the process of modifying the ship's systems.

Once the ship was borderline functional and the away team was on their way back into normal space, it was Linskens that operated the small two-person transporter effectively saving the crew.

Linskens was unable to beam off the runabout, but he was recovered by the USS Kitty Hawk almost immediately after the planet Iradon and the Trivaste Worldship shunted into an alternate dimension through an Interdimensional Rift.

Linskens was badly injured and sent to Starbase Geneva to recover from his injuries.

He has since retired from starfleet and has become a professor at Exeter University, his alma mater.
