A Federation Stealth Buoy

The Stealth Buoy was developed by the 52nd Fleet during the Federation Civil War to allow the undermanned fleet to monitor and maintain intelligence gathering capabilities againts Doenitz loyalist forces.

Because the bouys were designed to operate independantly and because of their sensative nature, they were designed with a few critical systems that most other bouys do not possess.

Incorporated into their core design is a Cloaking device, a powerful subspace transciever and an advanced sensor package.

The small bouys could be deployed from any standard federation starship through their torpedo bays. They could be calibrated to shift position frequently and possessed a very long operational lifespan.

The bouys were distributed to good affect during the civil war, allowing the 52nd Fleet to monitor the force movements of their enemies.

Once the civil war ended, they became less useful, seeing activity only along disputed regions and areas suffering from pirate activity.

In 2413, they proved a useful tool for the USS Rosenante who programmed a series of these devices to confuse the scanning methods deployed by the Irlixian starships of the Rhone Union.

The Stealth Buoys were first seen in the USS Rosenante Mission: The Gilded Man
