Teravere is an artificial nerve agent and viral plague that affects the body both mentally and physically. It provides the victims with increased strength, flexibility and stamina. However it also enhances extreme violent behavior, and converts them into cold blooded killers. The Klingons developed it in the late 2200's and experimented with the uses of Teravere only once on a global or mass scale, more than a century ago. It is not a naturally occurring substance. It was determined that the nerve agent was far too risky to use on any sort of normal basis. The United Federation of Planets put Teravere on the banned list and a standing order was issued whereby any Starfleet personnel that come into contact with it is ordered to destroy the agent in any way possible. Very little information was available concerning how the Klingons used the Teravere.

On a planet named Color II, in 2414, the USS Boudicca discovered signs of the very rare Teravere and investigated immediately. It turns out that General Deen M'locha and his science team used the nerve agent to transform a dragon like beast, native to the planet, from fertilization into a large and deadly beast. The beast killed some of the inhabitants and transferred the Teravere virus through open wounds such as bites and scratches to individual people on the planet. Once this transfer took place the inhabitants of Color II would then attack the next person by biting or scratching creating a domino effect. Each infected person acted like zombies.

There has never been an known antidote for Teravere until recently. General M'locha only pursued Teravere as he was first to create an antidote. As the only possessor of the antidote he knew that Teravere would be a very powerful nerve agent to master. Luckily the Boudicca crew discovered the antidote as the CO has been infected.

Teravere was first seen in the USS Boudicca Missions Dead or Alive and Starting Over and again in the joint USS Rosenante and USS Boudicca Mission : The Raven's Nest
