The planetary government is an electoral government whose highest office, of President, is termed in 10-year increments with no limit to the number of terms that may be served. The planet enjoys good relations with The United Federation of Planets and has strong trade agreements with the Orion Syndicate, Ferengi Mercantile Exchange and The Romulan Star Empire.

Their strong economy and prevalent trade good and raw minerals allow them economic strength, while their technology agreements place them in a strong military and scientific lead in comparison with many of their immediate neighbors. They possess a strong fleet and excellent military officers who participate in officer exchange with the UFP, RSE and KE.

The three moons orbiting Nilas III are rich in minerals and are called home to nearly 20 billion people, they are colonized extensively and offer a variety of raw resources and finished goods for trade.

The Nilas System is primarily occupied by Humans, who settled it in original DY-100 Generation ships. They are fiercely independent of the UFP and do not tolerate attempts by that government to pressure them.

The Capital City is named Nova Terra.
