The [[USS Rosenante]] is a [[starship]] currently serving in the [[Starfleet]] of the [[United Federation of Planets]]. The ship was launched in 2408, and at the time was the only ship of the [[Rosenante Class]]. She is currently assigned to the [[52nd Fleet]]. Her Original design was as a privateer, and she was initally to be deployed by [[Admiral Doenitz]] to be used against those that opposed him. However the vessel could not be deployed before the end of the [[Federation Civil War]]. As a result the Rosenante was captured at [[Utopia Planitia]] immediately after the Battle of [[Sector 001]]. She has since been refitted and reclassified as a long-range Explorer. Her original designs specifications were part of the controversial [[The Chimera Directive|Chimera Directive]].  The vessel's core design encompasses 28 decks. [[USS Rosenante Deck Plans]] are available to those with appropriate security clearance.

The crew of the USS Rosenante is considered to be one of the most diversely crewed ships in the fleet. The Officers who serve aboard her come from a wide variety of backgrounds and worlds, each bringing their own unique perspectives and experiences to the overall performance of the ship. There are personnel both old and new aboard ship who all strive together to overcome the challenges and risks that the universe throws at them. They are explorers, lovers and warriors all dedicated to the betterment of the [[United Federation of Planets]] and it's principles.

Captain's Log Supplemental<br><br>
After discovering that the rogue planet that we had discovered in sector 6309 was on a course to disrupt the orbit of an inhabited planet, we set out to determine what could be done. This was somewhat complicated by the fact that current studies show this world to be at a pre-industrialized state of technical advancement, which means that the Prime Directive applies.<br>
Although I understand the need for the Prime Directive, and as the Captain of a starship and required to obey it's intent, I find myself conflicted between doing my duty and doing the right thing. Where the law fails, ethics and morality must be substituted. In this case I have raised the question of the validity amongst my senior crew and all except one has agreed that morally we are obligated to do all that we can to save these people.<br>
While I agree, I can not simply discard the federation's highest law, and so therefore have put into place a plan that will hopefully provide us with the information that we need to legitimize a direct intervention on the behalf of these people. In this way, I hope to invalidate the need to invoke the Prime Directive and render immediate aid.<br>
To these ends, I have asked for volunteers to man an away mission to the Inhabited planet, known as Asrai Prime to look for signs of previous contact with spacefaring civilizations or signs of advanced technology that could allow us to intervene.<br>
Not wishing to place all my cards on the table, I have sent Commander Sullivan with the Rosenante back to the terraformed rogue planet, with the hopes of determining if the planet was forcibly knocked into it's current vector by unnatural means. If this turns out to be the case, then we can once again intervene.<br>
It is my greatest fear that we will discover no way to save these people and that I will be responsible for the extinction of an entire species. Because of this worry, I have decided to undertake the away team directly, despite protocols, as I have no desire to allow some other officer to interpret any data that may be found, especially when the final decision rests upon my shoulders.
