With the [[Civil War]] over and the curiosity for the [[Subspace River]] diminishing, [[Starfleet]] decided to return to the core values that had led the [[Federation]] to become the vast and united political organization it had become : exploration. Under the new leadership of Admiral [[Jopek]], the [[52nd Fleet]] was reorganized to accomplish this new role. The 23th Task Force, one of three task forces, was created, formed by all the ships that composed the [[52nd Fleet]] first Task Force back during the [[Civil War]] along with several new science vessels of the Intrepid, Nova, Luna and Nebula classes.  
The 23th Task Force was created following the promotion of Admiral [[Jopek]] to the command of the [[52nd Fleet]], following [[Admiral LoDona]] dismissal. The Task Force is mostly composed of the same ships that composed the [[52nd Fleet]] first Task Force back during the [[Civil War]] with the addition of several science ships for the purpose of exploration. It is currently one of three task force composing the [[52nd Fleet]], which is assigned to [[Sector 6309]] a sector at the edge of Federation Space.  


The 23th Task Force mission? To continue exploration of [[Sector 6309]] as well as maintain close surveillance and protection of the [[Federation]] border with the [[Romulan]]. To explore strange new worlds. To seek out new life and new civilizations. To boldly go where no man has gone before.
