Doctor Samantha Claire Gunnell is a woman of Eastern European decent, her hair is worn in a cut that shapes into her face and is about a quarter way down her back. She has what some have termed 'striking' eyes, a slight upwards slant lending her a mildly oriental appearance.

Gunnell is a devoted scientist that has devoted her entire life to the furtherment of understanding the universe around her.  She is one of Starfleets foremost Borg authorities and has PHD's in cybernetics, applied bioengineering and exobiology.

==Family and Background==
One of three born to Samuel and Iskra Gunnell, Samantha is the eldest and most driven of the children. Born in the Ukraine, she migrated to, and grew up in the alpine regions of Switzerland where she eventually married Tierrie, her lifelong friend and eventual fellow scientist.
