Kironide is an element found in most foodstuffs on the planet Platonius, but it is rare elsewhere as of 2268. When ingested and assimilated by the pituitary gland over extended periods, the substance can promote psychokinesis. On its discovery by the crew of the USS Enterprise on stardate 5784.2, the element had no real clinical use; the population had taken advantage of their new-found powers merely for sadistic entertainment purposes.
