The MkI Mako Fighter is the Starfleet standard nonatmospheric fighter craft that first entered service in the 2390s.

Additional Technical Specifications

Armament

A Starfury carries two forward-firing class III pulse phaser cannons. The cannons are controlled by a Daystom 1018 MJS smart targeting computer with a maximum scope of 70,000 km.

Manuverability

MkI Makos are highly maneuverable with the ability to spin 180 degrees in under a second. This combined with the heavy weapon load make them one of the most impressive fighter craft.

Cockpit

An unusual feature of these fighters is that the pilot does not sit in the cockpit but stands in an upright position and operates the fighter with a combination of hand, feet and voice controls. This position also allows maximum visual scope and maximum blood flow reducing the risk of blackouts from sharp maneuvers. The craft are outfitted with a cockpit ejection system.

Control Systems

The Mako fighter is equipped with the latest Combat AI systems that have been developed by the Famed Daystrom Institute. These highly evolved AIs are completely connected to all the fighter's primary systems and are capable of continuing onward with any fight even if they have lost their pilot. While the pilot is alive and functional, the AI is programmed to be responsive to all pilot issued commands.
