The McDermott's Sidestep was a modified tactical maneuver created by Ensign (jg) Eric McDermott during a battle between the IKS Hegh'delar and the USS Vindicator. McDermott used the Klingon ship's warp engines to shift the [[Bird-of-Prey]] in a lateral direction, across the vindicators bow instead of towards or away from that vessel. at the end of the maneuver, the Klingon ship, then pounded the smaller federation vessel with a concentrated series of distruptor and plasma torpedo blasts which resulted in the destruction of the ship and the death of her crew.
