She is Eurasian, about 5' 4" tall and weighs about 110 lbs.

Formerly the bar manager on the Boudicca, she has now moved to the Mithrandir together with her pet, the psammead Tommy Tucker.

==Mei Ling Hikaru==
Her parents live in San Francisco, and run a popular bar/resttaurant there. One uncle, deceased, who left Tommy Tucker to her care.

Mei Ling is a bartender in Ten Forward on the USS Spectre.
Mei Ling inherited Tommy Tucker from her uncle, a travelling merchant spaceman of dubious reputation.  The typical psammead (pronounced sammy-add)  is essentially a lump of fur around the size of a very large cat or a largish small dog and is strangely-shaped, with retractable eyes on long stalks, batlike ears, prehensile toes, and a pudgy body shaped a little like a spider's and covered with thick soft fur; its legs and arms are furry too, and it has hands and feet rather like a monkey's.  In addition, psammeads have extremely sensitive whiskers, resembling a rat's. It is grumpy, cranky, cantankerous, vain, abusive toward most people, but ultimately good-natured.

===A Brief History===

Formerly the Manager of Ten Forward on the Boudicca, she then moved first  to the Mithrandir and latterly to the Spectre together with her 'pet'/companion, the psammead Tommy Tucker. Her friendly nature, good cooking and firm management of unruly customers make her bar the place to be.

Mei Ling refers to everyone in Ten Forward by their first name, irrespective of rank. A notice may be found on the door indicating that all rank is to be left outside her domain; inside everyone is equal.

Her parents live in San Francisco, and run a popular bar/restaurant there. One uncle, deceased, who left Tommy Tucker to her care.

Citrus fruit or its juice has the effect of alcohol on Tommy; when he has imbibed too much, he tends to sing lewd songs before passing out.
