A Xega III Moonglider

A Moonglider is a resilient flying mammal native to the marginally Class M planet of Xega III. Their primary diet is that of scavengers. They consume small insects, some of the more tender plants and small reptiles. They are considered harmless and are known for their nocturnal habits.

The animals are fairly small measuring just seven inches in length when full grown. They are natural gliders, and tend to inhabit areas that are bordering on cliffs or other tall rocky terrain. It is believed that they were once adapted to living in arboreal forests, but that they evolved to fill their current niche in the environment after the Xegan sun went Supernova.

The animals live in underground burrows. They are the top of the food chain on Xega III. They make excellent pets, although their habit of climbing and gliding as a means of locomotion may not suit all pet lovers.

Moongliders were first seen in the USS Rosenante mission The Quondam Season
