Perses was devastated when she was told about what had happened but she was away on a three week trip and there was no way for her to get back with out her masters permission so she plotted her revenge. Perses had been captured and was being transported back to Orion territory so her master for trail when the transport that she was on was caught in an ion storm. The hull was breached and the ship was badly damaged. The crew abandoned ship leaving the slaves trapped in the hold. Five days passed until their weak distress signal was picked up by the USS Invincible that was on a long range patrol. The crew were horrified to find the half starved and dying slaves with in the barely surviving hull. The Captain of the Invincible after discussions with Starfleet agreed that the slaves could seek asylum and sanctuary in the Federation if they wanted to.
