I can't stand it anymore! I wanna know; how do you pronounce this guy's name? Den-its? Dun-its? Doe-nuts? Something else I don't know and didn't list? -herbalsheila

  • After a conversation with Jeremy a couple of months ago, this subject was raised. From what he told me it is pronounced Doe-nuts, or at least there are a fair few of us who have adopted that version. Jeremy would be the only person that could give you the offical and original version. -- Pdennett
    • Jeremy said I was the first person to guess who Admiral Doenitz was named after. </end brag> -- Kevin Schram
      • Dude, don't just leave us guessing, who was it? -- PDennett
        • Admiral Karl Doentiz, head of the Nazi German U-boats, then promoted to head of the enitre Nazi Warfleet -- Kevin Schram

judahfawkes on the forum boards tells me its Dö·nitz: d oe(German schön)'n i(pit) ts. Is this correct? -herbalsheila

Doe nits would be the closest I can type to the german pronounciation. My midwest accent makes it donuts.

and yes, I named him after the german admiral. :-P
