The Variable-Compression Nozzle is an advanced version of a Antimatter Injector or a Deuterium Injector. Whereas the other injectors maintain a uniform flow of materials for annhilation into the Magnetic Constrictors the variable-compression nozzle is able to be adjusted independantly of each other to richen or lean-out the intermix.

This component was a novel idea in the 22nd century and was first implemented in the NX-Class starship. it was originally designed by the [Andorian]]s and was used aboard their starships.

Currently all injectors are variable-compression, although they are not commonly referred to by that name.
