The Heavy Deep Space Tug ‘Vital Spark’ started out as an [[Oberth Class]] starship. She was launched a year before Starfleet began to disband its fleets at which point all her vital and militaristic components were removed before she was put on to the civilian market for purchase. She was bought by McDonalds Tow and Salvage Corporation where she was taken to the San Francisco Fleet yards in earth orbit. She kept her outer shape, but her insides were redesigned and refitted to her new purpose. Along with many internal changes the major redesigned was that her main shuttle bay saw removed and replaced with two large heavy-duty grappler towing system as well as a large multi directional tractor beam emitter.
