----
The renegotiation of the [[Treaty of Algeron]] did not had the expected results Vrih hoped. The Romulan military condemned the Treaty as soon as it was signed, considering the concession made far too accommodating. The military getting some support among senators, the Senate soon become itself divided between those who agreed with the treaty and those who did not. In fact, the division was mostly between those who considered the Romulan Empire still weak, following Shinzon coup d'etat, and preferred peace, and those who considered that thirty years of rebuilding was more than enough, and argued that the Romulan Empire should favor a more aggressive foreign policy.
Following several months of political debates, the Senate finally united behind the leadership of Senator [[Severan]], an ex captain who had a tremendous military record during the Dominion War, and who had become since senator. [[Severan]] represented a much tougher position than Vrih and was closer to the military, but at the same time, his leadership, political skills and values being moderate, he was able to convince several senators on Vrih side to his cause. At the end, within one year, Vrih had lost the support of the Senate and he was replaced by [[Severan]] as Praetor.
