Weston was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. His father, Walter Weston was a member of the MEF before the fall of the Federation. He died during the riot that ensued after the fall. His mother, Jane, was a stay-at-home mom. He has a younger brother, David, who is a businessman, with limited success. Michael was a troubled teen after his father died. He wound up being recruited by the Mars Defense Force and was trained in Special Operations. Then, when Starfleet re-emerged he was recruited by SFI for deep undercover work.
Magillans are typically a matriarchal society. The first-born son, generally, takes on the mantle of the career of his father. Bohb's father, Jorj, was part of the governing class of the planet. Jorj was on the Supreme Council of their region. Bohb, however, was drawn more to his mother, Sal-li. She was part of the teaching council. When Jorj discovered his son's betrayal of "The Way", he turned his back on his firstborn and devoted all of his time to their second son, Bohb's brother, Steev. Bohb then devoted his life to learning and found a knack for engineering.
